Disaster Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers are needed around the country to help our communities recover from disasters. Most recently, Fresno County was declared a disaster area by the State of California. Fresno has been particularly hard hit by drought and many individuals and families are unemployed and going hungry as a result. The State of California is supplying Fresno with 3 million pounds of food a month to be distributed. It requires between 150-200 volunteers to distribute food from the 5 sites.
Without volunteers, hungry people will be turned away. We need your support!
Volunteer on October 23rd 2009 from 8am-12pm or 12pm-4pm.

New Orleans: Hands On New Orleans is still looking for volunteers to deploy to Acadiana and Houma to repair roof damage, remove debris, and provide necessary materials and safety equipment throughout the region. Gulf Coast: Hands On Gulf Coast is looking for volunteers to help rebuild Red Cross and other response organizations volunteer camps that were destroyed by water. Volunteers are assisting with the clean-up and relocation process for those who were living in FEMA trailers and cottages that were destroyed by water surges.
