Easter Seals provides exceptional services to ensure that all people with disabilities or special needs and their families have equal opportunities to live, learn, work and play in their communities

Description:
The types of services provided in Marin County include:

• Early Intervention – provides direct services to children with developmental disabilities aged 0 to 3 years and their families. Staff work directly with individual children and families in their homes, and with groups of children and parents through facility-based activity programs. Services start with identification and assessment of developmental delays, and recommendations for services are made by Easter Seals staff and collaborating physicians at the Marin Community Clinic and other partner organizations. Early Intervention services help children with disabilities reach their potential and ultimately to live independently by addressing developmental delays in areas of cognitive, physical, communication and social skills. Parents are educated about the nature and dynamics of their child’s disability, learn about community resources, and are coached in specific techniques for improving their child’s skills and abilities.

• Educational Services – provides direct individual support to children with developmental disabilities in the schools, who are thereby enabled to participate with their peers in integrated mainstream classroom activities.
Educational Services staff include:

Licensed Vocational Nurses who help diabetic children maintain their insulin levels

Sign Language Interpreters who help deaf children to communicate with their teachers and classmates

Adapted Physical Education instructors who design and implement physical fitness and sports programs tailored to individual needs and abilities

Personal Attendants who help children with mobility, intellectual and social impairments to participate in classroom learning and fieldtrip activities

• Social Recreation – provides group activities in the community that build individual skills, self-confidence and social relationships for persons with disabilities, including:

Spring Formal Dinner and Dance

“Day on the Bay” (sailing on San Francisco Bay)
