Marin County HIV/AIDS Care Council

The mission of the Marin County Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is to promote and protect the health, well being, self-sufficiency and safety of all people in Marin County.

Description:
The Marin HIV/AIDS Care Council is convened by the Department of Health and Human Services in accordance
with agreements with the City and County Of San Francisco Office of AIDS and the San Francisco HIV Planning Council under Title I guidelines. It is a community planning group that oversees the prioritization and allocation of Ryan White CARE Act Title I and II funds.The primary responsibilities of Council members include: establishing methods for obtaining input on community needs and priorities; developing a comprehensive plan for HIV health services; determining service category priorities;
and making recommendations for the allocation of funds based on the priorities previously identified for Marin Title I funds received through the San Francisco Eligible Metropolitan Area (EMA).

History:
The Marin HIV/AIDS Care Council has been a functioning entity since 2004. The Council has two standing sub-committees: Membership and Community Outreach and Advocacy (COA) that also meet monthly. The Council has community, consumer, state and agency representatives; 46% are living with HIV.

Coming from the North on 101: Take the FREITAS PARKWAY exit. Go STRAIGHT AHEAD (through intersection, getting into right lane) onto DEL PRESIDIO Blvd. Turn RIGHT onto LAS GALLINAS Ave. Turn LEFT (next intersection) onto NORTHGATE Dr. Make quick right into 899 parking garage. Coming from the South on 101: Take the FREITAS PARKWAY exit toward TERRA LINDA. Take the ramp towards Terra Linda and merge onto FREITAS PARKWAY (get into left lane). Turn LEFT (at second signal) onto NORTHGATE Drive. Once on Northgate Drive, continue 1 block and (after the intersection) turn RIGHT into 899 parking garage.   Nearest Bus Stop: Route 45/Route 80, 5/10 minute walk
