Five 4 Five

Five 4 Five helps at-risk youth make it into and through college or vocational school. We choose students in groups of five for at least five years of our support. Our motto is "Making Success the Center of Young People's Lives," and we mean it. Whatever support they need, we are there to see that they get it.

Description:
We are called Five 4 Five because we choose the students in teams of five for at least five years of our support. We offer education, mentoring and job placement support as well as emergency funds for healthcare, food, housing. We say we are "Making Success the Center of Young People's Lives" and we mean it. We are currently working intensively with 30 students and are seeking to select 30 more. Our outreach projects, particularly our Speaker's Bureau, will reach thousands of middle and high school students this year.

History:
We began in 2002 with support from individual donors and then in 2003 we received grants from Marin Community Foundation, Autodesk, Kimball Foundation, etc. Our students began to shine with our support, moving through community college and receiving offers to SFSU, UC Davis, Dominican. They wish to stay in and work to improve their communities and many are working on important projects in the Canal and elsewhere right now.
