Zero Breast Cancer is a nonprofit organization dedicated to finding the causes of breast cancer through community participation in the research process. We focus on identifying environmental factors and the role they play in the development of breast cancer at all stages of life and across generations.

Description:
Zero Breast Cancer is a nonprofit breast cancer research organization that partners with local, regional and national researchers, breast cancer organizations and academic institutions in research projects that involve the community. We also bring research findings back to the community and educates the public about breast cancer risk reduction and prevention.
ZBC educates the community through events,forums, town hall meetings, workshops and speaking engagements, In addition, ZBC advocates with local, state and national officials on public policy issues that promote funding research and providing necessary resources to understand why Marin and the Bay Area have such high breast cancer rates.

History:
Zero Breast Cancer was founded in 1995 as a grassroots organization by a small group of women who were alarmed by Marin County's high rates of breast cancer. The goal was to identify the causes of breast cancer and educate the public about what could be done to prevent it. Now, 14 years later, Zero Breast Cancer is a nationally recognized leader in community-based participatory research,and through its research collaborations, have brought millions of dollars in research projects to the Bay Area.
