Insight Prison Project

Since 1997, the Insight Prison Project has been dedicated to reducing recidivism rates and improving public safety by conducting highly-effective in-prison rehabilitation programs that provide prisoners with the tools and life skills necessary to create durable change.

Description:
IPP programs foster a transformational re-education process that combines victim impact accountability, emotional competency and intelligence, rational restructuring, and embodied integration. These elements bring about a shift, transforming ingrained patterns of destructive behavior into conscious, life-enhancing choices.

IPP's diverse and professional teaching staff includes former prisoners. We are united by a commitment to service within the prison environment to bring about enduring behavioral change.

Although IPP concentrates on in-prison rehabilitation, we actively collaborate with organizations which provide post-release services and programs.

History:
Insight Prison Project started in 1997 with 1 class for 14 inmates. Over the years, the needs have intensified and the benefits become more obvious. Today, IPP offers 18 classes to 250 prisoners per month, for a total of nearly 2,000 hours of self-development and self-management activities.

Directions:

Insight Prison Project (IPP) is located on the corner of 4th and Lincoln in downtown San Rafael. The main door to our office is on 4th street, number 805. To find our office, go up the stairs and take a left. We are in Suite 3.
