  • Description:
    Our Vision

How we use resources has become increasingly important in the new millennium. The Bicycle Works will directly address this issue by providing people with a place to learn about and work on a self-sufficient, energy efficient, and fun mode of transportation. The Bicycle Works is open to everyone with an interest in bicycles, bicycle riding, bicycle mechanics, maintenance, building, and repair - especially including those with no prior bicycle experience! We provide tools and space for people to use and have volunteer mechanics on hand to assist, teach, and answer questions.

Our focus is to provide an educational environment centered around the bicycle as a force for positive community development. Toward this goal we host classes in bike repair, building, and riding; spearhead bicycle related community service projects, promote sustainable transportation alternatives, provide a hub for creativity and collaboration, sponsor forward thinking and innovative projects, organize rides, bike tours and other activities, and maintain a safe and friendly place for people to come together, hang out, and get stuff done. We will also develop after school programming and be a positive place for youth and young adults.
