Blind And Vision Impaired Of Marin, Inc.
Blind and Vision Impaired of Marin (BVIM) believes that no blind or low vision Marin resident need ever be forgotten, isolated, or alone. BVIM facilitates friendships, encourages continued learning, and offers all Marin residents the peer support, information, and transportation to lead active, socially engaged and independent lives.
Description:
BVIM administers five monthly neighborhood support groups throughout Marin. Monthly luncheons, trips to opera dress rehearsals, field trips to museums, art classes, workshops and other social and educational activities are offered at low or no cost and usually include transportation. Our volunteer drivers and readers can make a real difference in the life of a vision impaired adult. Other services include information about and referrals to other agencies.
History:
Started in 1974 as an informal grassroots group of a few friends helping each other adjust to and live well with vision loss, BVIM now provides programs for 150 low vision and blind adults in Marin County.
