Richardson Bay Audubon Center & Sanctuary
The mission of the National Audubon Society is to conserve and restore natural ecosystems, focusing on birds, other wildlife, and their habitats for the benefit of humanity and the earth's biological diversity.
Description:
We connect people to nature through education, conservation & restoration programs for children and adults at our wildlife sanctuary. We invite people who want to learn more about nature and those who want to be involved as a volunteer.
History:
We are located on the edge of the San Francisco Bay on 11 acres of land and 900 acres of water created as a wildlife sanctuary, and as a focal point for local science, nature and conservation. The center has a long and rich history of expertise in environmental education. These popular environmental field trips have been available to school children for over 20 years. The site is next to the Historic Lyford House, listed on the register of National Historical Places.
