International Association of Sufism

The International Association of Sufism (IAS)is a non-profit, religious, education and community service organization providing programs based on the ancient wisdom of Sufism and numerous service projects to benefit those in need.

Description:
The IAS is the leading Islamic education organization in Marin County, with The Institute for Sufi Studies and a meditation center in Novato. The IAS offers conferences in conjunction with Dominican University and service projects in the Marin County Jail and with other organizations.
The IAS is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) of the United Nations in the Department of Public Information and earned UNESCO’s “Messenger of Peace” award in 2000.
The IAS brings to the Bay Area, faith tradition leaders and scholars from around the world to share wisdom and advance human rights through the annual Sufism Symposium, an international, multicultural festival.

History:
The IAS was founded in 1983 and has been co-directed since its inception by Sufi Masters Seyedeh Nahid Angha, Ph.D. and Shah Nazar Seyed Ali Kianfar, Ph.D. Sufism has always been open to all people from every race, cultural background and nation.
