SingersMarin spreads the joy of choral music to seniors, youth, and every one in between! SingersMarin is an association of youth and adult choruses, dedicated to preserving the integrity of the choral art. It is our mission to "touch hearts and uplift spirits."
Description:
SingersMarin provides for the singers an extraordinary combination of music theory, vocal technique, and choral music education, once-in-a-lifetime touring and competition experiences, top-notch public performances, and community outreach opportunities. We sponsor children's choruses from age 6-teens, as well as adult choruses, both amateur and professional. The children and youth come for weekly or biweekly music classes and perform regularly in both the community - such as at a street fair or special event - and in several SingersMarin performances each year. The children learn a love of music while growing and sharing with peers. In all our choirs, we strive for excellence, while offering a safe, supportive atmosphere to explore the gift of song. Out adult choruses also perform at local events and visit homes for the elderly, disabled, etc. to spread the joy of music. The residents of the homes we visit express deep gratitude for our visits, brightening their otherwise quiet and often lonely days.
History:
Founded in 1987, by Artistic Director, Jan Pedersen Schiff, the organization had its beginnings as an adult women's chorus. Today it has evolved into an association of choruses for all ages. Concert touring has become a regular part of the opportunities offered our singers - from Carnegie Hall to Vienna!
