Catholic Charities CYO

We change the lives of people in our community by providing essential services and compassionate care to the marginalized and most vulnerable. Our mission is to serve and advocate for the poor, the sick, the distressed, children, families, immigrants and seniors, regardless of their faith.

Description:
Catholic Charities CYO provides family housing and homelessness prevention support for over 600 San Francisco families through emergency, transitional and permanent housing and support services. These programs stabilize homeless families and those at risk of becoming homeless through a web of support that includes housing, meals, counseling, case management, medical care, job search support, children’s activities, education and job-readiness.

25% percent of the HIV/AIDS population in San Francisco is supported by our organization. Since 1995 to present day, we have provided over 200,000 nights of housing for people living with disabling HIV/AIDS. We were also a first responder to the AIDS epidemic in 1985, and continue to be one of the largest HIV/AIDS service providers on the West Coast.

Catholic Charities CYO also helps families and individuals via counseling services offered to residents in San Francisco, San Mateo and Marin counties. These services reduce incidences of child abuse and domestic abuse, depression, alcohol and substance abuse, marital strife, grief and loss, and homelessness. CCCYO is the only Bay Area agency that will provide this type of help regardless of the client’s ability to pay.

Our agency assists immigrants and refugees living in the Bay Area in becoming fully active participants in the social and civic life of our communities. Basic services such as providing access to clothing, shelter and healthcare are offered, along with resources that lead to economic self-sufficiency, such as ESL education, employment services, and job readiness and retention skills.

History:
Now entering our second century of service to the Bay Area, Catholic Charities CYO provides critical services to more than 40,000 individuals in need per year. The organization was founded in 1907 to care for the orphans of San Francisco’s 1906 Earthquake and now supports 30 programs in San Francisco, San Mateo, Sonoma and Marin Counties.

Catholic Charities CYO operates as an independent non-profit organization and is the social service agency of the San Francisco Archdiocese. We do not in any way contribute money to or receive money from the Catholic Church.
