Senior Companion Program (SCP) is part of Senior Corps, a network of national service programs that provide older Americans the opportunity to put their life experiences to work for local communities. The Senior Companion volunteers touch the lives of adults who need extra assistance to live independently in their own homes or communities. They serve frail older adults, adults with disabilities, and offer respite for caregivers.

Description:
Senior Companions often provide the essential services that enable frail older Americans to continue to live in their own homes by taking care of simple chores, providing transportation to medical appointments, and offering contact to the outside world. They also provide respite care to relieve live-in caretakers for short periods of time. Senior Companions assist their adult clients in basic but essential ways: they provide companionship and friendship to isolated frail seniors, assist with simple chores, provide transportation, and add richness to their clients lives.
