Marin County Senior Information Fair
To provide the older residents of Marin County and their family members with information about and access to services, products, opportunities and organizations that serve them at a high quality, entertaining, day-long event.
Description:
Marin County Senior Information Fair is Marin's largest annual event for older persons and their families and attracts between four and five thousand people. The Fair represents a year-long community planning and organizing effort involving many agencies and the County of Marin who volunteer on the Fair Steering Committee. The Fair provides older persons with information on products, services, organizations and opportunities that may benefit them. It is comprehensive in the scope of programs and services it showcases--ranging from health exams to oral histories to volunteer opportunities to social services for older persons. Last year, 124 exhibitors participated and nearly 4000 persons attended. By attending the Senior Information Fair, visitors have an opportunity to do "one-stop-shopping" for most of the services, programs and products that may make a difference in the lives of older persons.
History:
The First Annual Senior Information Fair was held in 1985 with forty booths and 500 persons attending. It was first organized by the County Office on Aging and the Marin County Free Library, but now an active Steering Committee with representatives of many senior service organzations plan this event. On October 20, 2010, the Marin County Senior Information Fair will celebrate its 25th silver anniversary. The theme this year is "Silver Screen,silver dreams" It is now a non-profit public benefit corporation and many volunteers help organize this annual event. Come join us celebrate!
