The mission of Marin Housing Authority is to assitlow-and moderate-income residents of Marin to secure and maintain high quality affordable housing. The Marin Housing Assistline provides information and referral about community services designed for low income-residents in Marin. This program also offers the Senior Information and Referral Line which provides information and assistance to all Senior services in Marin.

This agency dedicates its efforts to prevent homelessness, assist callers on an individual basis, to work closely with community based organizatrions and to provide information and referrals. This experience will provide the volunteers/interns with an array of knowledge regarding services available in Marin for those living below the poverty line. Marin Housing Authority is dedicated to

History:
In 1942, as military families and shipyard workers poured into Marin frm accross the country, local officials moved quickly to form a new kind of entity, a housing authority. Its first charge: to manage vital new wartime communities at Hamilton Air Field, Tiburoon and MarinCity. From those beginnings, today's 300-unit Marin City Family Housing evolved - the county's first public housing. During the next decades, a steady increase in the county's elderly population. Alert to their needs, Marin Housing resolved to build new public housing for low-income seniors and the disabled of all ages. The result was a series of award-winning achievements, which house 500+ households
