Legal Aid of Marin
Legal Aid of Marin has the mission of improving social justice, economic equity and opportunity, assuring due process and equal protection of the law by providing low income and indigent people with access to high quality, effective legal services including direct representation and pro per support services, and through impact advocacy.
Description:
Our advocate staff (currently 4 attorneys)and 2 legal assistants conduct intake daily for civil cases in our San Rafael office. Bi-lingual intake is also provided once a week at Canal Alliance and Novato Human Needs. Our main focus is on housing issues, wage & hour claims, immigrants and seniors. LAM has a dependency contract with the Marin County Courts that is combined with an innovative graduate social-work intern program under the direction of an experienced social worker.
History:
Legal Aid of Marin was founded in 1958 and provides legal services to approximately 1200 clients each year. LAM has a widely acclaimed pro bono program that staffs both clinics and individual appointments.
