Help Audubon Canyon Ranch protect and restore beautiful and biologically rich habitats along the Marin County coast and Bolinas Lagoon. This group of volunteers meet every Thursday at Bolinas Lagoon Preserve from 9am to 12 noon. Help to preserve plant and animal species diversity by removing invasive plants, planting native plants and creating important habitats in restoration areas. Assist with seed collection, seed preparation, growing native plants in a greenhouse setting and improving plant propagation facilities. Volunteer work gives the opportunity to learn about local plant communities and how to restore impacted lands. Learn how to grow native plants from seed and ensure their survival. Learn how to identify and control invasive plants and understand why they are threatening our wild lands. Volunteers have the opportunity to work with diverse, knowledgeable and fun individuals. While collecting native plant seeds and controlling invasive plants, you will have the chance to see parts of the preserve normally closed to public access. Come and enjoy a day with us in beautiful Bolinas Lagoon Preserve. Opportunities outside of the work day include amazing birding opportunities along the Bolinas Lagoon and exploration of neighboring hiking trails.
Training: No special skills required. Audience: Open to ages 12 and older. Some work is available for younger children. Please call to inquire.
