The Novato Human Needs Center receives excess food from the USDA program to assist local residents in need. At the Center, we receive and distribute this food one time per month. The USDA Pantry Assistant sorts, organizes, and distributes food items received from the Marin Food Bank. The USDA Clerk assists the Center in overseeing the administrative process for distributing food to USDA clients. Knowledge and Skills Required for USDA Assistant: • Can lift heavy food boxes – up to 25 lbs • Can move items from truck to Community Room • Takes directions from USDA coordinator • Available during the day (morning) on fourth Wed and Thurs each month • Can assist in food sorting and packing • Willing to aid clients, esp. elderly and disabled in moving food to cars Knowledge and Skills Required
• Enjoys meeting and working with clients • Can take directions from USDA coordinator • Is available during the day (morning or afternoon) on fourth Thursday of each month • Can answer basic questions about USDA distribution • Is willing to enforce USDA distribution guidelines • Is organized and efficient • Can work easily in a busy and bustling environment
