Come join the restoration efforts of the Green Team! The Fort Funston Nursery, one of the five native plant nurseries in the Golden Gate National Parks, grows an impressive 25,000 plants a year. This is largely due to our dedicated volunteer base. By working at Fort Funston, our volunteers participate in a variety of activities, including seed collection, propagation, transplanting, pruning, weeding, and outplanting. This is an on-going volunteer opportunity: 9:30 AM -12:30 PM, Saturdays.
No experience necessary. Training, tools, snacks, and beverages will be provided. Please wear clothes that can get dirty, long pants, close-toed shoes, layers for changing weather, rain gear (if necessary), a personal water bottle, and sunscreen. Adults, families, groups, and youth ages 10 and up are welcome. With young volunteers, adult chaperones are encouraged. Fulfills community service requirements.
