Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Operation Access (OA) increases surgical access for low-income, uninsured individuals. As the first point of contact for patients, you will speak with patients by phone to conduct eligibility screenings. You will also refer patients who are ineligible for OA to other community resources.

Required Skills:
Desire to learn about healthcare system and medical terminology. Volunteers must be fluent in English, with preference for fluency in Spanish or Cantonese. You will also be asked to undergo a fluency evaluation.

Patient interviewers only need to have moderate availability, 2-4 hours per week, with a 3-month commitment. Training is provided and in-office volunteering is strongly preferred. Must have a positive attitude, good communication skills, and attention to detail.
