Fresh Starts Cooking School opened this spring as a social enterprise business operated by a local nonprofit agency, Homeward Bound of Marin, the main provider of shelter and services to homeless families and adults in Marin County.

We are seeking a motivated intern to develop a marketing plan for Fresh Starts Cooking School, which offers public events with celebrity chefs, in-house chefs and cookbook authors. Based in Novato at The Next Key Center, the school provides work experience for students training for employment in the culinary field while sharing our top-notch showcase kitchen and celebrating local food talent. See www.hbofm.org for information.

The intern will research various marketing media and opportunities, including online and off-line locations for outreach to potential customers, making recommendations for the most effective ways to reach potential customers and sell our events.

This work may include telephone calls with prospective customers, organizing a “pitch book” for outreach events and developing new marketing materials if appropriate.

This is a short-term project that will build your resume while enhancing a venerable community organization serving more than 1,400 people yearly. By strengthening the Fresh Starts Cooking School, your work will help grow job-training programs that benefit financially from these engaging events.

We would prefer an intern with a college degree in a marketing-related field or professional with experience in similar projects.
