Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Do you believe in encouraging healthy families? Support that goal and have fun engaging children while new mothers attend a support group intended to lessen the potential for postpartum depression. Volunteer must speak Spanish and English, be at least 16 years of age, and have experience with children. Child-to-adult ratio will not exceed 10:1. Volunteers will help set up and close the meeting room, and will engage children ages 18 months to 5 years with games, singing, puzzles, and stories. Mandatory training in confidentiality and HIPAA will be provided, along with LIVESCAN fingerprinting and a TB test. Staff will orient volunteers to the county’s Health and Wellness Campus in San Rafael. Schedule: 1st and 3rd Tuesdays from 6 to 8 p.m., beginning July 21 and running through June 15, 2010. (You may contact volunteer manager at 499-7167 for exact dates.) Ideally, volunteers will commit to one or two 2.5-hour shifts a month for the whole series.
