Open Call to help low-income and immigrant families- Marin Opportunity Center Liason(s) in Spanish and English Member Agency

The Marin Opportunity Centers is a new project to help low-income Marin residents achieve self-sufficiency including immigrant and non-immigrant community.
Our new offices, one in San Rafael and one in Novato, are multi-cultural, multi-service places where we aim to provide assistance to temporary workers seeking information and/or a referral to address a variety of needs. Our free, bilingual (English/Spanish) services will provide critical access to resources for education, employment, health care and legal services. With an emphasis on integrating all workers into the community.

We are looking for volunteers in San Rafael and Novato. We are looking for a commitment of at least one morning each week to support the following tasks:

• Provide culturally sensitive information and referrals to workers and their families
• Assist clients with accessing information and pursing resources
• Computer tutoring

Qualifications:
• Strong communication skills in English and Spanish
• Cultural competence in working with diverse populations, including communities of color, immigrants and persons of various ages, socioeconomic backgrounds, health status, and abilities
• Commitment to social justice

Development Goals:
• Gain experience serving a diverse community and meeting real needs of workers and their families.
• Become familiar with the nonprofit and government services in Marin County
• Develop knowledge of and experience with community services
