Volunteer Opportunity Details:
| Last updated on October 20, 2009 |
The Marin Audubon Society (MAS) is restoring upland habitat at Bahia in Novato by removing invasive non-native plants and planting native plants. The upland is the area above the tidal area. It is the area where animals of all kinds take refuge from high water during periods of high tide and where they seek shelter from predators. To prepare the land for native plants, volunteers at this time will remove non-native plants such as tarweed (Dittrichia graveolens) and ice plant. Other invasive plants such as thistles, radish and broom have been removed at other times of the year; some of those will reappear in diminished numbers next season. Native grasses and and forbs will be planted at other times.
Volunteers must be able to do typical gardening. This opportunity is sponsored by: Marin Audubon Society
