Grant Writer - Environmental Awareness Campaign

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on November 23, 2009

Support innovative environmental education and inspired activism. Green Sangha actions such as the Garden Wheel and Low Carbon education are making palpable differences in people’s lives. Grants help spread this work to convert urban lawns to food-bearing gardens and to help citizens learn how to lower their carbon consumption. Another action, the Rethinking Plastics campaign, has begun a web-based media program to bring an end to throw-away living and toxic chemistry. The Grant Writer identifies prospective funding agencies for these and other projects, then investigates their programs and develops grant applications as appropriate. Solid writing skills are a must. You will work closely with our team, who will provide samples of past proposals, do co-writing as needed, offer editorial advice, and help with proofreading – all in an atmosphere of support and constructive feedback.

Time commitment: highly variable, according to grant cycles; each grant application takes 4-14 hours to complete.

Good writing skills a must, along with the equally important capability to give and receive feedback in an atmosphere of shared learning.
Time management, patience, persistence, and the willingness to let go of all effort all make the work possible, and fun.
