Bolinas Lagoon Preserve Ranch Guide: Are you a birder? A nature lover? Want to learn more about your environment and share it with others? As an Audubon Canyon Ranch Guide you'll be trained by leading experts to assist visitors each spring at the ranch's renowned heronry. Ranch Guide training is every Saturday from late January through the first day of public season, in mid-March. Public Season then runs from March through mid-July, and Ranch Guides may choose the weekend days they would like to volunteer. Please contact ACR at 415-868-9244 for more information.
Training starts with Orientation in late January, 2010. The seven Saturday training program is designed to give Ranch Guides a larger understanding of Bolinas Lagoon Preserve's nesting colony of herons and egrets, Audubon Canyon Ranch history, the preserve’s many species of water, shore, and land birds, plants, pond life, and tips for working with the public. No prior training or skills are needed. The training cost of $25 is to cover materials fees. Partial scholarships available. Commitment: Graduates of the Ranch Guide training commit to four weekend or holiday days of their choice per year, during the public season of mid-March to mid-July.
