Feed and Care for Baby Wild Animals!

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on December 4, 2009

Just 4 hours a week can make all the difference!

Volunteer at WildCare and help take care of sick, injured and orphaned wild animals.

WildCare is a wildlife rehabilitation and nature education center located in beautiful Marin County. Every year WildCare receives more than 4,000 wild patients from more than 200 different species. Our patients include owls, hawks, pelicans, opossums, bobcats, foxes, raccoons, robins, sparrows and more! Our wildlife rehabilitation hospital is 95% volunteer driven, and the animals depend on the volunteers for most of their food, caging and medical needs. Spring is our busiest time with injured and orphaned babies coming in daily.

Volunteers are provided with all the training needed to work in the hospital and care for our wild animal patients.

Interested volunteers must attend an orientation on January 23rd or 24th, 2010 to learn more about the opportunity. To register, visit our website www.wildcarebayarea.org/volunteer or email volunteer@wildcarebayarea.org

If you decide after the orientation that you want to train to be a WildCare volunteer, you will be asked to:

*Complete a series of 4 classes over two months,
*Commit to one, 4-hour shift a week once your training is completed,
*Commit to stay on as a volunteer until the end of the calendar year (Dec, 2010).

All training classes are taught by an experienced wildlife rehabilitator. There is a nominal fee for the training to help cover the cost of the materials and supplies. A training manual will be given to all trainees
