Volunteer with the Tennessee Valley Native Plant Nursery and join our efforts to restore native habitat in the Golden Gate National Parks. The Tennessee Valley Nursery grows plants for over a dozen restoration sites in the park from Olema to the Marin Headlands. As a volunteer you will learn about our local native species and the importance of restoration ecology. Activities include invasive plant removal, outplanting (winter season only), transplanting seedlings, pruning, and seed collection. This is an on-going volunteer opportunity: 10 AM - Noon and 1 PM - 4 PM, Tuesdays.
No experience necessary. Training, tools, snacks, and beverages will be provided. *Bring your own lunch if you're staying all day. Please wear clothes that can get dirty, long pants, close-toed shoes, layers for changing weather, rain gear (if necessary), a personal water bottle, and sunscreen. Adults, families, groups, and youth ages 15 and up are welcome. With young volunteers, adult chaperones are encouraged. Fulfills community service requirements.
