TITLE: Sexual Assault Crisis Intervention Counselor Community Violence Solutions is looking for compassionate and committed volunteers who are interested in becoming certified Sexual Assault Victim Counselors. Our state certified training is offered at no charge and is open to women ages 18 and over. Specific Duties Include- Direct Services: Provide initial crisis intervention to victims and significant others: staff 24 hour crisis line (on-call shifts), provide accompaniment and advocacy during medical exams and police interviews, provide appropriate information and referrals, follow-up counseling and advocacy services, report child and elder abuse, and follow Rape Crisis Center protocol. Administrative: Collect required data and complete paperwork. Attend monthly in-service meetings. Time commitment: A minimum of one 12 hour shift per week on the crisis line for 12 months and attendance of monthly in-service meetings. supervision will be scheduled periodically. QUALIFICATIONS: Our volunteers successfully complete our pre-service training for certification as a Sexual Assault Counselor and have the desire and ability to work with sexual assault victims and their families. They have the ability to adhere to our agencies philosophy and protocols and provide their own telephone and transportation.
