Volunteer Opportunity Details:
| Last updated on October 20, 2009 |
Members of the Marin Literacy Advisory Board represent a variety of concerned citizens who live and work in Marin. Their fundraising efforts and community outreach raise awareness regarding adult literacy issues and stimulate the county to support the instruction that the Marin Literacy Program offers to low-income and low-literate adults in Marin. These volunteers are passionate about literacy and understand the importance of a well-educated workforce in Marin. As a result of their efforts MLP is able to continue to train volunteer tutors and offer adult learners the instruction they need to become participating members of the community. The first requirement is to attend an Orientation. It is essential that prospective board members have a clear picture of the services that MLP provides. Volunteers then meet with the Membership Chair and attend a board meeting. All new Board members need to be prepared to attend bimonthly meetings and participate on one of the sub-committees. This opportunity is sponsored by: Marin Literacy Program
